Pete,
I'm new to this place, and I don't do any other "chat" things anywhere. I too find a lot of bullshit here that I wouldn't expect. I know that business is business and fun is fun, and I believe if you can't have fun at what you do for a living it's time to get out.
I didn't expect to find this place as a forum for "anything goes", but it seems that some people will post about almost anything. I would like to see this place as a great exchange between people in our line of work, but as in anything, you have to take the good with the bad.
I, for one, would hate to see your name drop from these pages. I have found some of your post to be helpful and insightful. Your "fish" post had nothing to do with building, but therein is the fun I am talking about. We need a break from work every now and then....even here.
If I decide to respond to anything on these pages, I will try to keep my remarks in a professional light. I do not come here to "chat".
Hope to hear from you here again,
Ed. Williams
*Pete, I suspect that in the past I was a jerk, but I think I have cleaned up my act. As far a content goes, I take it as a starting point and not a definitive answer. If I were in the business, I would be more confident the comments on how business goes around the country that are made here than face to face. In person, it seems the first one to mention price, speed, etc. loses. Lastly, there probably only is one optimal way to do most things, and once you learn it, there is not much to add until new techniqes or materials become available - so some just argue to argue. For myself, while I am no expert, I sure as heck wouldn't insulate or vent a house based soley upon this forum - and in reality, I don't know the best way myself. If you are gone or go, thanks for the comments. I have enjoyed them.Dennis
*Well, son, in the old days (3 mos. ago) it was different, more congenial and most important much more hard-core building stuff (plus fish stories of course) not the anything-you-can-do-I-can-do-better stuff. Like my last question, gosh in the old days there'd be 20 replies by now (hint, hint).3 mos. from now it'll be totally different. At least "lurk" for a while, I'll get bored or overworked and drift off soon enough. :)
*Hi Pete,I don't think it's just this board that has you down. Is there something that we can help you with?Gabe

...what would we do without all these jerks anyway
besides, all our friends are here...

I'm sorry to hear you'll be leaving us... Perhaps you are just in a rut? I agree that the board has taken a turn for the worse lately, but that is up to us, yes? Actually, I can say I have enjoyed your posts.
Wait a minute, does this have something to do with that salon owner? Whatever happened there?

Pete:
I'm in the same group as DSOB Scott. I know I get in a funk especially when something goes wrong, but if I step back for a few days everything gets put into perspective. Hell, I know I'll never be efficient at your trade because I don't do it full time and I try to do most everything (jack of all trades, master at none!). Still, it's nice to be able to hang with the big dogs once in a while.
Hope to see your posts again.

Awww c'mon Pete, Stick around.
*Coming off the last 3 weeks of rediculous events I can understand Pete's point, but then I may in some part be one be one of the sarcastics he refers to. Things can be so overwealming and difficult...anyways I look up to Pete as a consummate professional and hope he's back soon.
*
Pete,
Blame it on the weather. It's that time of year when just about all trades I know of start to get loopy: peak season, it's getting hot, we're all probably drinking more than we should... Plus the familial aspect of it, etc.
*Hey, waitaminutePete spelled his last name wrong. What man EVER mispells his own last name?--It's not pete!
*
Clay,
I just took a quick look at prior posts and I think you may have discovered a spook on the board. It did seem rather out of character and I just took the bait on another phony post.

*Clay-very astute! I think you must be right. Pete doesn't strike me as the kind of guy to pull a stunt like this to "fish" for compliments (sorry for the pun) or to quit so suddenly. I hope he lets us know soon. And I also hope this type of posting doesn't become common. John
*Man....If this is true, do I feel stupid or what?Come on Pete, where are you?Ed. Williams
*Ed, Pete did mention a trip to Italia was in the offing... I don't remember the timing... but somebody must have~~~Sean should be able to find the poster's ISP address if the Server has the utility installed...
*What? what did he say? The clicques has gone mad here! Thats life after a long day in the remod biz. L. Siders

This must in some way have something to do with Dr Evil and Mini Me's rampage. They must be filming the next episode or something.
Curses!

hmmm... pretty slick. still, the poster (lurker) did elicit some insightful comments about this place. consider this topic archived for violation of privacy standards (please don't presume another's profile on these boards- i know you CAN, and it's certainly no great technical achievment to do so, so what's the point?)
