I guess I’m outa here too. I emailed Andy and said thanks for the past years that Taunton let me contribute my two cents worth. I wanted to say so long to you folks too.
Change is good…….change for the better, that is.
Do I really care If I can post in a blue font? All I wanted was a good spell checker.
This place has lost it’s charm.
I may lurk around once in a while to see if things change.
It’s been fun.
Mind your sixteeths.

Ed- Hey, Bro! Please do us a kind favor and give it a chance. After that do what you need to and it will be understood. Yes, it's different here, but there are new tools in the design which you may like............All I'm asking is that you give it a fair play. You're a great contributor and would be missed! Thanks for your consideration, Ken Hill
Ed.,
From a (mostly) lurker: I hope you DO come back to check on us from time to time. I've learned a lot from you. Thanks.
I hope there will be some changes to the design of this board. Yes, its over the top, and confused, but nothing that can't be changed. I hope it will.
Tom
Ed,
I didn't get very far my first few forays into the new setup. It's not what any of us wanted. I've wasted a few minutes today running the mouse and making a few posts, and navigationally, it's becoming somewhat familiar.
Still...
I've stepped away from the forum here and there since '97. I always come back after a breather. I'm hoping you do the same. I think they'll be some sort of cyber-shakedown over the next few weeks as modifications to the software are made. If not, I may very well join you in semi-exile.
What the heck are you going to do with all your free time now that you're not on BT?<g>
Regards, Mongo
Ed - Hopefully you will check back in and stay a while I have also enjoyed your posts in the 1.5years I have been hanging around.
Good luck if you don't pop back in.
SJ
Ed,
Read the post Cutting your nose to spite your face...by good ol boy Joe Fusco.
I think it'll help you. It helped me my brother. I also don't like this as much
mainly due to all the busi-ness but Joes post helped a real lot so give it a shot.
If you don't come back we're gonna start talking behind your back. lol
Be well and see ya soon here.
Andy(buildz)
Ed....some seem to have missed the point. It isn't a matter of learning how to use the site....it's a matter of not liking the set up. I'm with you. I checked for about 10 min yesterday......and will check around a little today.....but I'm not scanning everything like I used to......because this set up hurts my head!
Why look at something that bothers ya? This is supposed to be fun. It isn't anymore. I can figure the damn thing out.....I'm sure most from the old site can....not like we're a bunch of idiots......but....who cares if you can add color and change fonts. I can do that all by my lonesome in Word! I just don't happen to spend my time playing in Word....I create the doc and get the hell out.
This change ....especially the lost flow of conversation....will be a slow start to the end. Maybe we'll run into each other on the odd chance we're back at the same time. Good luck with the difficult customers....keep finding the impossible projects......someone's gotta do them! Later, Jeff

Newf ...Confused, wild, & lucid...
I'm still trying.........
I guess we'll have to call it "Broketime".
I miss the name of the poster next to the subject. Sometimes that would inspire me to check-in.
This whole system is just too scattered.
Fading fast,
Ed.
GACC:
This places needs your inputs again. You always had a lot of good posts.
I guess I'll say my so long too. Not like that is any big deal for anyone-I'm certainly not a regular. And not because of the change, although it looks like Headline News now.
Mostly lurked-never could teach well, and can't translate what I'm trying to explain to someone in printed form well either.
In the end I was not reading the questions or responses correctly, and making mistakes that were obvious to me after I posted them.
But it was fun, and it's nice to see a lot of new names...
Actually it's what everybody wanted, only it's all on the same page. Way too overwhelming. I never complained about the old board or wanted it changed. This really is the ultimate in bells and whistles for a discussion board. But the problem with that is that it takes away from the discussion. The old board was so simple that you could almost hear the persons voice. This one doesn't seem to do that. The frames thing is what really seems to bug people ( I know it's the main thing I don't like) But other then that,it really is cool. Especially the way it lets you check the replies and see the specific post the person is replying too. And the way it keeps track of the threads read. If they could do away with the frames thing I would be a lot happier. And as someone else suggested, put the topic starters name next to the topic title.
There THE MIGHTY GUNNER HAS SPOKEN!
P.S. two thumbs up on the speelchecker
Well, I finally got my name right.........spaces and all.
Stan.........I'll give it a try.
Gunner,
It was easier. Maybe I'll adjust, maybe not. The right click on the subject thing seems to help me. "Open a new window" and then maximize it gets rid of a lot of the clutter. I dunno......we'll see.........
At first I thought it was hopeless.......maybe I was wrong.
Maybe not?
Ed.
Ed- Thankyou very much for giving it a shot. I, too, would much prefer the old forum, this thing is for cyber geeks. NOT for carpenters. -Ken

Ken (an everybody else for that matter) I am very much a carpenter and I think
this site is great and going to be really great once everyone gets aquatinted
with it's tools and power. As I've traveled around through BreakTime & Knots
these past few days and listened to the myriad of complaints from absolute outrage
to minor whining I keep on repeating many of the same observations and comments
over and over. When I first saw Joe
Fusco' great help page I said to him then in that discussion (Cutting
your nose to spite your face):
The one big key element that I think will really help a lot of the people who
are complaining about the frame interface is:
Shift Click on Discussions
to Open Them in a New Window! (It make them really easy
to read just like the old days)
This Prospero system is an absolutly great commuication tool.Far and away better
than the old Web Crossing system. I've also said elsewhere:
I am certainly not missing the old style format at all. But hey it's only been
a couple of days so I may be a little too critical and unsympathetic but I think
it's time to stop complaining an start talking again about Building & Remodeling.

I'm gald to hear you're so happy.
I thought I deleted the "Special Signature" thing in my preferences?
This is a lot of fun on a 13" screen.

About Stinkin time, I was wondering when you were gonna make your appearance. I think you were waiting for the academy awards. " Now for best neighbor with a chipper and chain saw...The envelope please...Im so nervous.... Its Guuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnneeeeerrrr!!!!!!" Darkworksite4: When the job is to small for everyone else, Its just about right for me"
I've just kind of been hanging back and lurking a little. It's way to hard to keep up with everything. Lets start a chant.
NO MORE FRAMES! NO MORE FRAMES! NO MORE FRAMES!
If you run yer mouse over the name of the thread, the name of the poster will appear on the bottom of the frame.
Well, now we are getting somewhere.
Ed, I really hope you decide to stay. The pictures of your work, as well as Stan and Armin help inspire me to take on some of the more difficult jobs we come across. Your ideas and answers to others questions have always been very helpful to me.

Bill,
I tried that, but nothing happened.
What am I doing wrong? And how do I change the font size I'm typing in and the color and all that jazz?
Ed.
I'm jumping in on the middle of this.
I think if someone has a nickname entered it will show at the bottom when you pass the cursor over the title. No nickname then nothing shows for a name just started by boblVolo Non Voleo 10Joe's cheat sheet
Thanks, BillP. Anyone know how to dim the screen a little? That thing is awfully bright.
