I have my cell service through one of the big providers. I get excellent reception, 4-5 bars in the front of my house and almost nothing in the back of the house or in the back yard. I get excellent service all over the LA region, even as far away as Alaska and Hawaii, but in my own house and backyard it stinks.
Do any of you know about “signal boosters” or any aftermarket systems to balance out the reception coverage at home? I thought I had read something about that somewhere a while back but I can’t find it now.

T-Mobile also has a soltution, but requires that you buy a specific phone that is compatible.
Technicly it's a VOIP phone system... but it uses existing Sprint CDMA phones - that is kick ####!
5,000 foot radius on those things too, I think sprint has a winner in that product.Rebuilding my home in Cypress, CA

Good to hear that Sprint has something that works well. I'm stuck with Sprint and feel the service is very poor. The reason I'm stuck is that I need the Nextel network owned by sprint) to do my job - here, it's like "the construction network". That sucks too. Back to the cell service though.... Granted Raleigh is a small city and I've noticed that I get better service in large cities (Like DC) but here there are dead spots all over the city. For example there is one area on the beltline that is dead. My previous work site was horrible. Oh - and BTW - both the cell and radio are nearly non-functional and my house... There is a tower nearly within site of my house but I guess Sprint doesn't lease from whoever owns that. In the morning I wait until I'm about 4 miles up the road before I start making subcontractor calls, etc. Then after about another 4 miles I hit another dead spot. This is both for the radio and cell. In a word their service SUX. It is actually to the point where my very high dependance on the cell/radio to do my basic job combined with the unreliable service is very stressful. Always wondering if someone heard what I said and constantly saying "could you please repeat that". The other day a sub who I had ben trying to get a hold of for a week said "I was trying to get you yesterday. I frankly didn't know if he was lying or my phone just didn't work. I had already hired another (more expensive) sub by then...
Glad I can share this with a few thousand people....
Oh - BTW - wanna hear how unreliable the voice messaging is? Occasionally someone will leave me a message and I will get it one or 2 days later. etc, etc, etc....
I finally dropped Sprint a year ago for Verizon and couldn't be happier. I also thought that I had to have a Nextel because that's what all of the trades use in my area, but nobody cares that they have to call me instead of beep me, my bill is half what it was, and I actually have service all of the time.
