First thing you want to do is spend about 100$ (in my area) and get your water professionally analyzed. Do not take it to one of these local water places, try your state department of health they will do the correct job then you will know what you are dealing with. The best system you could go with is an ozone system if your water quality is really poor, but remember 2 things if you have high levels of bacteria you may still need a chlorination system, and with ozone you need a sizable storage tank to work properly. I know of one company out of Southern Calif. “Blue Diamond Technoligies” I belive they have a web site.
Good luck

Where can I locate information on water treatment equipment for treating H2S (hydrogen sulfide) as well as iron?
I know a softener will work with iron up to 4ppm or so (with a resin cleaner).
I've heard of aeration system, ozone systems, etc. All mfg. literature.
Anybody have any good sites to recommend, or personal experience.
TIA
Adam
