?? Info resources attic ductwork
Hi all,
Another request for information in regard to my Dad’s house renovation. Consensus is building (I am railroading him along with the contractor’s recommendation) into realizing that a heat pump is the choice in his renovation. It will have to be installed in the attic, and the only option for ductwork in this slab on grade, interior masonry wall house is through the attic and ceilings.
If any of you know any good places I can go to on the web to learn stuff, and to print out some info for him this afternoon, let me know. Also, any systems of attic/ceiling ductwork you have good or bad things to say about?
It is likely that all the present ceilings in the house will be replaced. Dad refuses to accept that yet, but the contractor will likely convince him, so if there is any ceiling retrofit system recommendations you have, those would be appreciated.

Hvac-talk.com, tell them you a newby looking for duct information
Thanks!
WARNING!You need to watch BB.He is sending you into the lion's den with a steak in one hand and pork chops in the other one.And asking the lions to give their opion, but not to sample.
Actually you might be able to get some good information over there. But NOT BY SAYING YOU ARE A NEWBY (which implies that you are trying to DIY). Rather list it as in your first message.
First, don't bother HVAC Talk. It is a bunch of union technicians bitching about having to work for a living and about evryone that pays thier bills. No useful information to be found there, IMPO.
Second, a very easy way to find some good resourses is to Google on "duct design".
Check out the Florida Solar Energy Center & http://www.daviddarling.info/encyclopedia/D/AE_duct_design_and_installation.html
The Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning National Contractors' Association (SMACNA) publishes some very good fabrication standards, probably not what your looking for, but maybe the have some basic material as well.
