I’m seeking any input re: the two most prominent IR paint removers, the Silent Pain Remover as previously discussed here over the years, and the Bayzi ‘Golden paint remover’ unit. There’s about $70 difference between the two, with the lower priced Bayzi unit the more feature-equipped.
Any comments? Thank you. –jon

Jong,
This last summer I removed 100 years of paint from the front of my house using the Silent Paint Remover. Overall the unit works very well. The first version of the SPR had a problem with the switch overheating. They have corrected the problem by changing the switch. The handle of the SPR stays fairly cool, although I wore gloves just in case.
Stripping the paint is slow, but it takes ALL the paint off in one pass. The shave hook scrappers I used left the wood smooth, no need to sand at all. Here are a couple of pictures of the stripped siding.

I would recommed the SPR. I used it for about 5 weeks straight, 10 hours a day and had no problems.
