Inoperative garage door opener via remote
One of my Craftsman door openers will not operate with the remote controller. It works when using the wall mount buttons. One other interesting thing is the light that is in the wall switch is contantly blinking insead of remaining lit.
Any ideas as to what my issue is?

If you have the directions or can find a trouble shooting online-check there.
Other than that, I'd check the battering in the remote. If good, check the "antenna" connection at the motor. Perhaps change the code on the remote and the motor.
First, of course, change the battery in the "clicker", if it's not fairly new. But the blinking light suggests that the opener has gotten "out of sync" with the "clicker".
You need to dig out the documentation (or perhaps there's something printed on the opener) and figure out how to reset the "sync" between the two. Generally this involves standing on a ladder and pressing a button on the opener while pressing the clicker.
Dan- Well you were correct-when in doubt "read the book"! I made the mistake of asking an "expert installer" who right off the bat says the blinking manual button was indicstive of a short. The "synch" worked!
Thx
Well my prior post is so dangerous that it's "queued for moderation", but it occurs to me that another reason for the blinking light is that there's something wrong with the photocells on the door -- something blocking the light beam. Generally when this is the case the wall button will still work, but you must hold it in to make the door move, vs just pressing it.
Dan,
Thx for comments- photo cells are okay as they will reverse/stop door if interupted. By the way, for the longest time I had a problem with that door s it would constantly reverse unless yo held the interior buttons. Line of sight was clear to eyes -or so I thought- I was finally watching it one day, and noticed it reversed just when a galvanized stiffener on the door passed the beam-duh!! It was bent in just enough to break the beam.
Then I would say that the remote is "out of sync" with the receiver. You need to do the button pressing thing.
Thx Dan- be back home Tuesday and will give it a shot. stay tuned.
