I found a deal on really nice looking marble tiles. The tiles are 16 x 16, tumbled marble. They are 3/4 of an inch thick though. The saleman at the store warned that the really were meant for a concrete floors. I bought them anyway.
I plan to put them in my bathroom. The floor of the bathroom is made of 1 x 5 planks nailed directly to 2 x 10 joists, perpendicularly. I planned on screwing sheets of 3/4 exterior grade plywood on top of that, then tile. Will this work, if not, what’s the best approach.
I assume that with today’s mortars that cement boards aren’t an absolute necessity. I wanted to make sure, though.
I also plan to use the tile in a corner shower. The walls and floor will be tiled. Here, I plan on using cement board.
Thanks for any input.
