Working on a small tile project. Customer wants me to replace the entry door from the garage into the mudroom where the ceramic will be. Previously the mudroom was carpet (I know pretty stupid, eh?). With the new tile (about 3/8″ thick) should I set the threshold on some 1/2″ ply when I set the door?
Planning to use a new prehung unit.
Thanks
Eric

i say check the height of the new door treshold some u will some u wont dont forget rough opening size of door
Like joe suggests, check the back of the threshold on the new door or off a spec sheet. Most can be raised at least the ht. of the tile finish, so a grout (or better yet, color matched caulk) joint is all that's needed to finish. This should allow the opening door to clear a foot wiping rug .
