Been recruited by my Yacht Club to coordinate putting gutters on our building (see pic below). Have set up the fabrication truck to come down in a couple of weeks and make us some 75 ft long 6″ k style seamless gutters.
Unfortunately we can only have leaders at the corners of the building since that is where the storm drains are.
So my question is what is the minimum pitch we can get away with. At just under 40 ft even a 1/16″ per foot has the ends of the gutter 2.5 in lower.
Thoughts?
PS the reason for the gutters is that the roof water drain off is one source of the erosion that has caused the foudation piers of the club to settle. In some places that settliing was as much a 7″.

toolin.. 6" gutter is great for that run
make sure your downspouts are oversized too
run a laser on the fascia to make sure it's not pitched funny
if it's level.. hike the middle up to the top .. use a can of water to find the minimum pitch that will empty the gutter to both sides
with 6" you can almost set them level... setting them level would basically amount to 6" of pitch to each outlet
be sure to set your fascia hangers at 2' OC.. and in that enviornment use SS. screws
As long as you have some pitch, you're okay. On a long gutter I like your 1/16 th per foot.
I see other potential problems though...
1. You need large diameter leaders, big enough to handle the water from 75' of gutter catching a large roof area.
2. Don't overpitch the gutter, or you could easily overwhelm the leaders that way too.
3. You need that gutter well fastened. 75' of 6" gutter full of water is a lot of weight. Keep that in mind too.
Hope this helps...Buic
