I am installing my first set of open / closed stairs next month. They will be open treads at the bottom and closed stringer at the top. To make it more interesting the closed stringer starts 4 feet up on the left and 8 feet up on the right side. Will measuring the distance from the second floor out to where each wall ends. Then stepping ththose measurments off on the stair treads. Will this give me the exact spot to cut the treads so they fit tight to the walls AND tight to the framing at the top of the stair well? Any tips? Thanks in advance if you take time to help me.
