Hi All,
I’m going to be installing Douglas Fir T&G flooring under our open covered porch. I’ve heard that a flooring nailer is not a good idea because you can’t get galvanized nails.
So I’m thinking a 16gauge finish nailer (which I own) with 2″ stainless steel nails might be an option. Am I on the right track here? Or will the holding power not be sufficient?
Thanks
Dave

You can get stainless steel nails for your flooring gun through McFeely's or other sources
At 90.00 or so a box (not many-but probably plenty-the box is in the shop and I'm too comfortable with NFL action approaching) maybe a thousand-CLEATS that fit a cleat nailer.Stainless.
Senco I believe.

I think the holding power would not be sufficient. would small clipped head ring shanks in a framing nailer blow the tongues off your t&g? Might be worth a try if it's a small area before investing is SS cleats but I think you'll decide that the SS cleats are the way to go.

SS cleats in a flooring nailer are the way to go.
I've used them and they worked well. I think the time you save using the flooring nailer vs. the finish nailer offsets the cost of the nails."it aint the work I mind,
