what is the recomended way to install windows in rastra houses? I,ve built a few of these houses and have tried various methods. The houses all have a plaster interior finish and three coat stucco exterior finish.

On the installations that I have done w/rastra the framer has installed a 2X buck into the rough opening to give a place to anchor the jambs. The contractor needs to know this in advance because if using the bucks the window RO in the rastra needs to be +3". Depending on the desired final look ie. deep returns on the exterior, or trim on the interior, will determine exactly where the buck is placed within the wall. Does this answer the question?

Thanks for the answer. I've done it that way too and its the most labor intensive. I wrap the sill and lower part of the jambs with a flexible self-adhering waterproof membrane, but I'm wondering if that is necessary. I mean, there is no drainage plane with rastra, so any water that gets past the stucco is being absorbed by the rastra anyway.
