Almost all my work is renovations but I’m building a house from scratch this summer. There will be a full basement and I want to insulate it from the outside. The foundation wall will be 1′ above grade in the front and 4′ above grade in the rear. I’m planning to tar the exterior of the foundation, let the sill overhang 2″ and apply 2″ extruded foam . I will then apply lathe or fiberglass and stucco over it. Was wondering if anyone has a better idea? I’ve heard it is not a good idea to put foam over the tar. I’ll only be applying the foam down to the frost line. Thanks
