I installed a skylight in the vaulted ceiling above the bathroom in my cottage in northern WI.
I plan to install Durovents and then insulate the spaces between the roof rafters to allow for an air space between the roof sheating and insulation along the sides of the skylight to provide for ventilation of the attic. My question is how do I insulate between the bottom of the skylight and wall of the house? Do I use an airspace between roof deck and inslation or just insulate with no airspace because the airspace will not go through to the ridge vents? Also how about from the top of the skylight to the ridge vents? I am concerned about ice dams and condenstion in the attic. Also FIY this is the only room in the house with a vaulted ceiling, the rest of the attic is open space.
Thank you for your help!

How about cutting a couple of notches on the top side of the rafters below and above the skylight no deeper than the duravents to channel the air into the rafter bays beside the skylight . Chuck

I've always drilled a couple of 1 1/2" holes through the sheathing side of the rafters below and above the skylight framing to allow ventelation. I also try to have the insulation cut a scosh short to allow some freedom of air flow. Never liked notches, the could weaken the rafter.
*Thank you both for responding to my message! I appreciate the advice and it will work great for my situation. Thanks again.

Gentlemen:
It is a common practice among North American builders to presume that using less insulation in a rafter system makes the roof colder. After years of employing this strategy myself, with unacceptible results, I was introduced to this radical new theory: more insulation resists conduction better than less insulation.
Damned if it didn't work, Fred
*Hey BabeIf ya pack it full of insulation then you can't ventilate it. What's up with that???pm
