Hi guys,
We are planning to insulate our house. We have talked to some contractors.
Price difference are enormous.
#1 4,500.00 including repaint of walls
#2 3,700.00 including repaint of walls
#3 1,470.00 not painting the walls
Could somebody explained to me why such big difference and how can I know if regardless fo the price they will do a good job.

Are all bidders going to do the same thing the same way? Are you getting different bids for different scopes of work?
Assuming that all three bids are for the same thing, you should be checking the contractor's references to make sure they are all reputable.
A low bid can be a blessing.
A low bid can be a trick to get you to sign so a contractor can bill you for extras later (you know like when you buy tires and then pay extra to have them put on the car, or extra for valve stems.)
You can often get a low price from a well meaning contractor who simply has no idea what they are doing, or how to figure their costs, or how to make a living. This may sound like a good deal for you until half way through the job when your contractor figures out that he's gonna loose his shirt and better start cutting corners.
In the end, rarely is the lowest bid the best deal.
*Way too little info. What is your climate? What type of construction and era is your house? What type of insulation are they proposing? for starters.....

We live in So. California. Our house is stucco it was built in 1964. Insulation type, Bill I can not remember the name of the product right but it is suppose to be recycled, compacted newspaper, they left pamphlets showing exactly the same product with a different name.
I will get the exact information tomorrow.
TIA

Argh, it's CELLULOSE!!! (Inside joke.) There's nothing wrong/right with the product, depending who here you ask. (Bill and I have used it.) You would do well to search the archives on this material, particularly on the importance of "dense-packing" the walls with lots of cellulose so that the material will not settle.
"Repainting the walls" may be THE major expense here, judging from your quotes. And not all painters are created equal (as with contractors generally).
*So - now I'm really uncertain. Stucco on frame I presume? Are they proposing repainting interior (so called vapour barrier) or exterior because of holes or both?
