Does anyone know if it is possible/advisable to overlay wood veneer or a built up panel over a stainless steel refrigerator or dishwasher door to better integrate it in a new (vintage) kitchen renovation.
Had I had the foresight, I would have bought the models that have specially made doors. But now, I don’t want to throw away these high price appliances (Jen-Aire 48″ counter depth fridge and Bosch dishwasher) because they will not look right in my vintage style kitchen.
Are there conversion kits made for such appliances to retrofit an integrateable door? Or, can we glue wood panels/wood veneer on top of the existing doors (accounting for added depth) without over-stressing the hinges?
Thanks for your help.

talk to the manufacturer...and yes, there are kits for most appliances,,,either from the manufacturer of the appliance, or from a second party... the manufacturer should know....

You could also call a applaince parts distributer or repair man and possibily get just the door that is made to accept the panels, then swap the doors out.
