I have an old brick interior chimney running through the middle of both floors of old farmhouse. Would like to leave brick exposed as is in second floor but want to seal it to contain dirt and old mortar particles from living environment. Chimney is not used. Maybe will put a liner in there to vent hot water heater at a later time. Does anyone have a recommendation for a sealer to be put on the exposed brick here? Thanks.

Boy, you're into this sealer thing lately! (Just joking)
I recently sealed the exterior of a brick chimney with Ben Moore Clear concrete sealer as recommended by the local paint expert. I've used the same stuff on porches and sidewalks....has a lot of vapors, but goes on well and has water cleanup.
It really brought out the color in the brick and I would think it'd work in your scenario.
Just provide for good ventilation while you put it on. I used a 4" brush, but some guys around here put on sealer with a garden sprayer.
Brush it is. Thanks.Half of good living is staying out of bad situations.
