If you are a homebuilder you might try the NAHB. They are geared toward the contractor. AGC is more the roadbuilders and office tower kind of guys.

What is the address for the association mentioned in your message?
Thanks
Mike Russell
*The org is National Assoc of Homebuilders. Look in phone book for your local chapter. They are everywhere. we belong to 3 organizations. Good networking. They have a strong lobby and just generally good people. They do some seminars too. Each assoc is different. They saved my business about 8 years ago so I am paid up for life.
*Hey Dave, Mark is right. NAHB is the way to go if you are a home builder. Great networking and local chapters. Plus their yearly convention in Houston is to die for. Seminars that help in every possible way. AIA is the recognized authority on contract forms. They have been around forever and accepted by everyone. As for OSHA compliance--the easiest is grab the book published by OSHA or the government printing office and dive in. TTYL

I am thinking of becoming a member of the Associatted General Contractors. They have contracts on disks. Some of the g. c's and archtitects that we work for push the AIA contract. Are the AGC's better? Are any of you members?
I am hoping that the AGC has the most reliable information on working within OSHA's guidelines. I need to know how to follow the guidelines while not working foolishly(if there is a way).
Also is the AGC for larger scale builders than homebuilders?

Our company has been an AGC member for 40 plus years. We are a small co. Size makes no difference. We are treated the same as the large contrs. AGC is organized into building chapters and heavy & highway chapters. We get our money's worth. Our chapter keeps us up to date on OSHA, & other changing legislation, offers training, such as blueprint reading, supertendent classes, to name a couple. If we have a need we call our chapter office and they respond to our need.
If this is for you contact your chapter & talk to them. Our chapter offers a trial membership for a year. Firms can try it & se if it fits their needs. AGC also has a very effective lobby @ the state & national level.
Look us over & see if we can help you.
