Is this the way to Sq up for new slab?
Hi,
I’m trying to determine which way I should layout for a slab addition. What I thinking in to take a laser line lined up with the side of the house, plumb down three points, snap a chalk line, then measure out from the chalk line equal distance at three points. Would that give me a line parallel and square a line from the chalk line?
Mike
sorry for the double jpg.

To draw a straight line extending from and parallel to the existing house, I'm not sure why you need the laser. Just anchor the line back some way back on the house wall.
The important part is in ensuring that the measurements "out" from the chalk line are square to it. Measure 3-4-5.
Amateurs talk strategy, Generals talk logistics.
That will give you a line paralell to the back of the house, if that's what you want, but I would probably make it paralell to the wall with the windows myself.
after you project those three lines back (you really only need 2), mark where you think the corners will be, then check diagonals to square it up.
Thank you,
Why pick the window wall? How do you determine which wall to use in this situation?

What kind of roof and how is it oriented relative to the existing house?

Gable, with the gable on the "house wall" The other long wall is a screened in pool. I'm going to be putting up a 2ft high wall around the patio and install pavers so i was thinking maybe the pool screen would be the best line to use so the pavers line up square with that?
Mike
I must have missed this post earlier, but the window wall just seems like the one with the closest relationship to the deck, walking in and out etc.
Thank you,
I actually squared it up with pool screen "wall" I'm going to be putting pavers down and I want them to square of that wwall because that's where the entrance to the patio is going to be, so that will be the first thing the eye will catch.
Have a great Christmas and New Year.
