I just got my new JLC issue today, and read the article.
Sure wish FH still had articles like this. I’ve a winder to build in the new project, and the archy has it as a simple arrangement of three straight runs with two intermediate landings. I might do it like the JLC article shows. Could be fun.

Jed Dixon does some nice work. You should take the time and go to a JLCLive show and check him out. I've noticed too I think, their mag is getting a bit thicker. You can't just plough through it in a few minutes. Still a good pair of mags for continued education.

What if...
I wonder if JLC is seizing the opportunity to do an end-run on FHB? It is generally known that FHB has lost it's way, and that the readership is growing restless. JLC had probably picked up on this, so now they'll fill the vacuum. I also see there are a number of former Taunton authors - writers from FHB's good old days - hosting on the JLC website.
I talked to a couple editors of both publications about two yrs ago. At the time, neither felt they were in direct competition. Each thought they were catering to a slightly different audience. I was thinking same audience, slightly different interest. And all along, JLC has done good in depth articles on specific techniques and such. I haven't given it much thought till you brought it up. JLC was always considered heavier into business, code issues etc. I know I would hate to lose either publication or online presence.
As far as the crossover of authors, presenters at shows and online hosts, there is a cadre of good public oriented tradesmen that apply their knowledge in both mags. There's not many of us that possess the talents of the trade along with the journalistic experience necessary to do it. I've got to hand it to them. There's side jobs.........then there's what these folks seem to have time for. If you get the opportunity, meet up with some of them. A real treat.Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

I'd love to meet the Dunkleys, Hemps, Hauns, Gerstells, Wenzs and Susankas, and so on of our world, not to mention the fine folk who make this forum what it is. Too bad I won't be at RiverFest, what with the learning and the fun you guys will have...

I'm sorry, but I don't do anagrams well. JLC I get. FH, sure. But TLT? A construction-related rag? Help me out. All my mind can focus on is something I might subscribe to if I was in max security solitary.
Sorry, it was a typo - TotT - Tools of the Trade. It's free to construction professionals. Matt
Unless they decide not to send it to you after repeated requests... which several people have complained about.
