We have 30 employees at our masonry firm, some guys work here and there. I want to track this time. Anyone use the job clock that is advertised in this website?

I bought one about one month ago and it works great ! The only problem is the cost. The job clock , software , palm pilot , and several of the pieces that you use to clock in and out cost me a total of $1500. Then if I want to have it work with my peachtree software and print the checks I have to spend an additional $300.
I'm currently on a T&M Job so the client sees everything . He was impressed by the report that the jobclock prints out .
One other thing , you may want to place a grease board by the time clock . If someone forgets to clockout for lunch or something I have them make a note of it and then correct it later on the computer.
I looked into it for our company a while back, the start up cost more or less scared me away. IIRC the start up cost for our company to have around 6 clocks and all the necessary "keys" was around 3K. However, if you call their sales team they did a good job at almost selling me on it. It sounds like it could be benifitial if you believe you are losing time from employees or if you're payroll is cumbersome and time consuming.
Another option I looked into is a service offered as an add on if you use Nextel. I don't recall the name or the specifics well enough to go into detail. Basically it has the ability for employees to "punch in and out" of certain tasks on site and you get a report as to what they were doing and where for how long. Using the GPS abilities of the phone you can also confirm where they were and for how long.
Thanks guys. I am forwarding this to my boss.
