Hi all –
Just kurious…what has been you experiance/feedback with Johnson levels. Do they stand behind their levels that have a *lifetime warranty* on them ?
I’ve got plentee of Stabilas – just want to add a cheapie lifetime warranty 24″ Johnson to the set.

I have 2 48" Johnson levels I bought several years ago. I bought them because they had the same warranty and accuracy claim as the Stabilas for a lower price.
I also own the Stabila door setting set, but I would have bought Johnson if they had em. I haven't had to test the warranty exchange, because they are both as dead on as the day I bought them.
I've discovered that not all levels read true, even off the shelf. if you go to the store pick a Brand and you test a whole bunch of the same brand, you will find that some will show up reading untrue and some true, even of the same brand. to me a sign of a level not to buy.
I checked every Johnson ( Yellow Box Beam) on the shelf, they all read dead on.
I would reccomend Johnson yellow box beam.
I would not recommend the black I beam however, the one that was given to me years ago was not accurate. I sold it at a garage sale for $3

second the Jhonson levels...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!

I have a 72", 48" and a 24" Johnson yellow box beam. Dead on, made the same way a Stabila is. I don't know about the lifetime warranty. I love 'em. They're almost half the price of the Stabila.
chefwong,
We talked about this a while ago here;

I vote for Johnson, too, but nobody told me it had a lifetime warranty. Does it?

you just never read the sticker when you bought it. But it says so and I asked when I bought it. nothing like a level you can trust...
but I am amazed at the amount of not so accurate levels that they sell. combine that with a 1/4" tolerance that some guys go with plumbing a wall and ....ewwww.
I don't know. I have an old Johnsson mahogany and brass level that I've had for half my lifetime and it is still serviceable

A cheap 6' Johnson I-beam. It actually reads true. Treat it like a baby. Can't sight through the top edge though, but it's mostly for doors so...
Make sure you cover that Johnson :)
