Are joints in Azek that are “welded” using Azek adhesive strong enough to not need screws? I’m making some frame and panel planter boxes out of Azek and I’m wondering if I can skip the screws.

I've used a ton of Azek in the last ten years in some normal and also some unusual ways. Depending on how much weight will be in your planter you could probably get away without the screws but if you consider freeze-thaw cycles, getting dropped/knocked over/bumped into, I'd probably add screws for insurance.
I've never seen it mentioned but I tend to think the adhesive is stronger when used on a cut surface of the Azek as opposed to the factory surface. That's just my guess with no data to back that up.
