I’ve got a basic 6″ Delta jointer.
If I recall correctly, there is a practical limit of jointing stock that is 3X the length of the infeed table. I need to joint some pieces that are about 9′ long, so I’m thinking about adding table extensions.
I’ve got some very nice 1″ thick resin-impregnated counter surface, plywood with laminate topsheet, that I can rip into 6″ strips. It’s very heavy and very stable. What’s the best way to build this up? Anyone ever done this?
Thanks,
Scott.

I'd be inclined to use a roller stand for the infeed end and set the extension as perfect as you can get to the outfeed. The out feed is the most important plane.
Clamp a long , deadnuts straight guide to the outfeed and build to it, then remove that guide and do a few test runs.

Cool, thanks. That actually sounds easier than I thought.Scott.Always remember those first immortal words that Adam said to Eve, “You’d better stand back, I don’t know how big this thing’s going to get.”
Yup, uncomplicated. The reason for not having a rigid infeed table is you want to be able to adjust the infeed height. A roller there is simple to adjust. Mostly you're just letting the work not hang down so low it teeters on the infeed table.
I started woodworking with a 4" jointer, was excited to have it. With practice, and a fixed outfeed extension, I could joint 12' boards. Used 1 3/16" particleboard to make a box with a stepped side for the jointer. My "extension" was the jointer base. Nice and heavy, worked very well.
Happily not doing that anymore, but you use what you've got.
PAHS works. Bury it.
When you adjust the infeed end you have to adjust the extension as well, to keep it in plane. But certainly it can be done. Here I'm planing boards 12' long.
