Junking an EK2 Boiler – Need Advice
Well, I bought an Energy Kinetics boiler 8 years ago, and while it was very efficient on oil, I have spent a fortune maintaining it. With a power vent, it never ran for more than 6 months without a breakdown.
We just went through a major renovation, and after the boiler not running for 1-1/2 years, both the burner AND the exchanger are shot. I would love some replacement advice. The house is now very well insulated (Icynene foam everywhere). We will now have 3 hyrdoair zones, and a naturally drafted all-fuel flue.
While I would love another efficient boiler, I am gun-shy about getting something that will not run reliably. My local oil company if offering a Peerless WBV/WV boiler. I know it will not be as efficient as the EK2. Would this be a good choice? Other recommendations for an efficient boiler without breaking the bank or the repair and maintance fund?
Thanks,
