I’m looking at two 40″ ranges for our kitchen remodel- they’re almost identical smoothtop/two oven ranges and the prices are very close but one’s a Kenmore and one’s a Frigidaire. Any advice about the reliability of either of these two brands right now? It’s a big purchase so I want to do it right!
Thanks-

Checking the parts dealers, they are virtually identical ranges.

A longtime architect/builder friend says, "Never buy anything that says Frigidaire." If you check some of the online product reviews, and outfits like Consumer Reports, it seems to bear that out. I have found, on the other hand, that "most" Kenmore appliances are somewhere between very good and excellent.
Sears farms out their appliance contracts to a number of manufacturers, but the units are built to Sears' specs. I always ask at Sears who the manufacturer is of a particular Kenmore appliance. For instance, I will buy a Kenmore reefer by Whirlpool, but not a Kenmore by Frigidaire.
