The time has come to put the cabinets in… does anyone have a source for what is best where? ie: Large pot storage and cookie sheets next to stove, silverware drawer near kitchen table… etc.
Much thanks!

Gary, the time to make these decisions was before you started the project, not now that you are ready to install the cabinets. This would be like a surgeon cutting the patient open and then asking "Ok, now which organ are we supposed to be removing here?"
That said, I'm sorry to say that I personally do not know of a source for that particular info. I imagine you could try the search function, but to be honest with you, as great as this site is, I have never had any luck getting the search function to work for me. I would think that FHB most certainly has run articles pertaining to this in the past. Although I have always thought that the best way to go about it is to just get whoever is going to use the kitchen to keep a notebook in their current kitchen and jot down everytime they say to themselves-"gee, this sure would work better if it was over there instead of here" etc. I know that at this point that advice isn't probably very helpful but it's all I've got. Just use your good sense, You seem to have the right idea. Good luck.
*Gary: if indeed you already have the cabinets, it is indeed too late to worry about functional layouts. At best, you could buy an hour or so of a professionals time and get what basic advice you can. Hoping it's a small kitchen and you are satisfied (maybe already committed) to where the major appliances are located, the only other general advice is to place wall cabinets of usable size near the sink and dishwasher to facilitate loading and unloading. After that, any attempt at pull/roll out drawers in the base cabinets near the cooking surface will be helpful. Play/act the task of preparing a meal and cleanup after (or have your clients do such in front of you). This MIGHT give you some hope of building a functional kitchen. Visually, try to keep cabinet widths the same from base to wall and try to keep similar sized doors grouped together as best you can. LOL
*deja vu .... again....
