Any recommendations for knee pads that are comfy with both long and short pants(current pair bind around the back of the leg), and stay where you want them?
Thanks

I wear the monster-style ones from Lowe's. They are a bit warm (read sweaty) in the summer, but are comfy and don't mark up floors. Definitely extend time between knee 'scopes.

I have two pairs of knee pads and intensely dislike both of them - they're always "rolling" away and the straps are a real PITK (Pain in the knees) when I'm wearing shorts.
Recently, I bought some of those interlocking foam pads for the concrete floor at my workbench and took two of them to a tile floor job I'm doing. They're great!!! No more "rolling" off the knee pads and having straps chafing my legs.
I like them.

They make for a great Valentine’s Day gift too!
After many years of less than stellar performance from kneepads, i picked up several of those sissly little lady gardener kneel cushions.
They are now my best friends and go with me to every job!

I have several sets, different types depending on the job at hand. hard faced ones for rough work or masonry or landscaping outside, softer padding for already finished wood floors or tile where I don't want to slide around or scratch the floor.
Pads with 2 straps per side are more likely to stay put.
My solution to being comfortable when wearing them with shorts (~5 mos / year) is to save the legs from cutoff pants, 10" sleave or so, and wear it between your knee and the pad. soft to the skin, provides additional padding and soaks up the sweat, 100% cotton is best :-)
Pro Knee all the way. Expensive up front, but well worth it in the long run. Had mine about 6 or 7 years, & they've held up well.

well I see someone beat me to it but you will absolutely not regret shelling out the bucks for the proknee pads. They feel and work so much better than everything else I've ever tried they ought to have something else to call them - kneepads doesn't really do justice. I've walked out the door to go to lunch with them on - you forget you're wearing them. That hasn't happened to you with a pinch behind the knee, has it?

Re: the ProKnee pads. After these were so highly recommended some months ago, I searched for a local place that sold them, found one, and went over there to try them out. I thought the quality and engineering wwere great, but I had all kinds of trouble with them sliding off my knee as I was crawling around on the showroom floor. It was enough of a problem that I decided not to get a pair. The clerk seemed knowledgeable, and he said it was a common problem, unless, say, you were doing something like laying tile -- where most of your crawling was in a straight line.********************************************************

When I did the tile work in my kitchen, I bought a pair with the straps, they dug in like crazy, I hated them. And then I noticed the knee pads that my daughter uses for volleyball. Elastic band the full height of the pad, about $10 at any sporting goods store. They work great, stay put, cheap, and very well padded. Plus they come in different colors.....
I have to agree they are comfortable if you wear shorts. With long pants they get awkward. The other concern is durability. I run alot of baseboard, crawling around on OSB subfloor, and it chewed them up in a week.
I bought a pair at Home Depot about a year ago. I don't think they sell them anymore. They only have one strap, but it is neoprene. Fairly comfortable.
Years ago I switched to a pair of pants from Skillers that have the knee pads sewn on. They are replaceable and can be removed should you not want them. The knee area is Cordura, so they will be abrasion resistant with or without the pads. The company also makes shorts with pouch like pockets, and a neat tool vest.
Pro Knee gets my vote. Both my brother and I own a set and love them. I used every knee pad available and after one day on my knees I had a tough time walking for a week. Not now. Can work all day on my knees and I am fine. DanT
