      Thanks for the reply.

Did some google searches about backflow and anti-siphen.

Gave me some things to think about.

      Thanks again

Interesting, I never heard of this "class five" thing & I have a Kohler Cimerron.

I ran through Kohlers explanation of how it worked, thinking there might be something there I didn't know about.

Nope, it's what I thought it's just a larger douglas valve with direct jet into trap way, which is nothing new except for the larger douglas valve.

It has the same ballcock assembly as most tank type toilets & can be replaced with an industry standard Fluidmaster¯, which is backflow prevention with all tank type gravity flush toilets.“When politicians and journalists declare that the science of global warming is settled, they show a regrettable ignorance about how science works.” Nigel Calder,  editor of New Scientist

like i said... everything i said was quoted from my local inspector... he seemed up on them... and it was pretty clear a few folks here had tried to install em... and it wasn't allowed... he's a pretty sharp/ and very fair guy... he's one of those inspectors you are happy to have...

Is this backflow issue about gas or waste or both?

I called Kohler today in Kohler,WI and talked to a tech.

I was told there isn't an issue of gas backflow as long as there is water in the tank.

As far as waste, they didn't know of any problems with the toilet we are talking about.

Now my backyard has been flooded many times(my waste hooks up to the city in the back)and I have never had any trouble with waste backing up but a few of my neighbors have. Not sure why that would be.

I also asked about anti-siphen in the tank and was told the toilet has that built  into the fill system.

I guess I should just go to my Building Dept and ask!DUH!

          Thanks for the replys.

Learning about things I've always taken for granted.

I don't really know... my inspector was there and we were talking about urnals  and some had been baned in our area... then he started in on the new kohler toilets and how they'd made someone remove em... he gave details about the design problem as they saw it...  I was kinda amazed thinking kohler would produce something with the type issues he was talk'n about...  all this was kinda on topic  because we were talking about how in our area they were really getting strict on backflow preventors...and the yearly inspections

i just purchased a 3" one (back flow preventor) with valves.... over 300lbs...

Worked for a man who has aToto.

Walk in the bathroom and the seat opens

      Control panel on the wall.

Just push a button and it does all the dirty work for you.Even dries you.

      Comes with a remote also.

      He loves it.

      Cost around $2,500!

      Way out of my range.
