I have a small 1 story house that has had a furnace installed in the attic space. The attic space is essentially a mechanical room and is part of the conditioned space. The rafters bays have been filled with kraft faced fiberglass batts with baffles against the roof deck. Is this safe/code comliant? The furnace clearances for combustables and serviceability are all good.

If you call it an attic you are good, when you start calling it a mechanical room on the plans then that opens a whole different set of rules. a few that come to mind are 5/8 type x wallboard, ceiling hight, self closing door.
