Hey I’m building a playset for my kids in the back yard. I have build many stair cases in the last 20 years but I am unsure of specs for a ladder. ie. rise verse run, tread depth, riser height. I don’t think my Construction Master calc. can give me a answer. Not puzzled but looking for some insight.

Craig,
The rule of thumb I use is to angle the ladder so that your outstretched hand can touch the rung at arm height, just like on a properly set extension ladder. I think it is 15 degrees off vertical. 4" is a good generous tread depth for a kid ladder. Just remember to insist that they come down it facing the ladder, not like walking down stairs.
If there is a slide involved, that last advice is likely unneeded.

Yes, there is a slide involved. Which we tested a few times tonight (that means that I was the the elevator). 15 degrees sounds good. I'll lay that out tomorrow and let them test it out. Thanks for info
Actually, a correct stair formula should work for a ladder. But you have to downsize a bit to make it kid-sized.
