Trying to find out whether or not the following item is available. An extension that would fit on the bottom of a standard ladder and allow either the r or l bottom side of the ladder to be raised thus allowing the ladder to be used on a sloping roof.
I need to reach the peak of a house that is over the sloping part of the garage. Trying to determine the best way to set up a secure platform to work from. Any tips?

Check out Little Giant ladders from Wing Enterprises. I have one, and got the "Leg Leveler" accessory with it. Theirs is kinda fumbly to move from leg to leg, but a real treat for making safe solid setups.

Sporty's Toolhouse - probably Sporty's.com or suchlike...
are paint stores sell them and I believe HD does as well.
You can probably even order then on amazon

Not advocating that particular brand, as I've never used them, but what you're after is available

I think this might be what you are looking for. I my area you can pick one of these up locally at the big box stores. With the exception of a few attic ladders, I've been pleased with Werner products.
in vino veritas
I've got three sets of the Louisville's. Been in use for twenty years now and haven't let me down yet (pun intended). Great for really steep slopes and stairs too as they have lots of extension.
I'd suggest mounting 'em on your ladder such that the leveler foot can be retracted upward a bit beyond the bottom of the standard...... cause sometimes I want to stick one or both the actual ladder standards hard in the dirt (wet grass and such is slippery).
That round foot on the bottom swivels to bear nicely on all kinds of terrain/slopes.
