I have sort of a silly question but was wondering if there is anyway you can paint a kitchen or bathroom countertop. I want to change the color of my existing laminate countertops but do no want to undergo the mess and expense of replacing them.
Are there any techniques out there that will help?

Yes you can! My wife who is the painter in our house, got some stuff from Sherwin Williams, I think. I'll ask her and get back to you.
Talked to the wife. It wasn't Sherwin Williams. It was our local paint store. She thinks the name of the product was "melamite" or something like that. She did say that it made a clean job of it but if you wanted it to last for ten years of use you're out of luck cause it doesn't hold up like the original surface.
She's actually looking for the can so I can get you the correct name.

I didn't know that you could but apparently fingers says that you can.
Another solution, If you want to save a few bucks just overlay the existing laminate.
All you have in it is the laminate and some contact cement, a little of your time......

there's nothing that's gonna last.
and ... mess and expense?
very little mess .... very little expense.
if you're considering paint ... look at a post form from HD or Lowes.
