My customer lives in a condo there’s carpet on a concrete slab. The utility room backs-up to the living room so far there’s been 2 floods from the AC unit and 2 new carpets put down she’s had the AC fixed twice over the last year & now she wants to put laminate or hardwood floor
The AC guy is a friend of hers and fixed it for free I told her to have a different AC guy to put in a larger tube and screen and a drain line to a small pump so there won’t be any water overflowing if a clog occurs
Also what would be the best vapor barrier to put down to prevent moisture from effecting the flooring other then the poly 6mil sheet they sell and what would be the best choice hardwood or laminate
Thanks for any advice on this subject

either of those two kinds of flooring could very easily become toast in the next flood...
tile it....
good call on the AC...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming

Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
Bonne jour from snowbound Montreal,
A simple, larger pan under the unit with a moisture sensor(spider sensor we call it) could be installed. The sensor would shut the unit down if the upper pan over-flowed. Possibly, the sensor could be placed on the floor where the beginnings of a flood would be detected and shut the unit down. A couple of hundred dollars(if that) is a worthwhile expense considering the alternative.
