I’m getting ready to glue down some laminate.
Is there any reason (other than my tool addiction :-} ) to get a laminate trimmer or will my standard size router work?
thanks,
Marc

Few people understand it. Nobody agrees what it is, how to learn about it, or who's responsible for it. It has never been more important

If this is an occasional job for you then your standard router with laminate trimming bit will work just fine. I used one for years before dropping the $ for a laminate trimmer kit.

Will the application of the laminate be "in place"? If so, the larger diameter baseplate of the full size router can limit how close you can get to an end wall. And leave an area that needs to be hand finished. This is one place where an offset base trimmer excels.
No, I had already decided to pull the tops for the glue-down and trim.
Thanks,
Marc
Marc,
Regular router is fine. You might want to get a 22' bevel bit to reduced filing.
