Does anyone know a formula for figuring both angles for cutting crown when it is too large to stand it up against the fence with crown stops. I know there is a way to do it mathmatically without having to use the trial and error method.

Thank you. I can use that. But, is all crown molding 52/38 or 45/45? When I get to the job in the morning I hope it is one of these.

I use a Bosch angle finder (model DWM40L) put it in the corner with the extension, push a button and it gives you a digital read out to set the angle and the bevel of your saw. Fast and easy.

Joe Fusco has a little program on his web site, you plug your angles into the calc and out comes the settings for your saw.
Its not possible to take your computer to work, at least not for me, but its kinda cool to play with.

Hell, I didnt see that!
Thanks and I'll print it out and laminate it so I have a copy next to the chop saw.

Thanks for the Joe Fusco website. Its just what I needed. I knew there was a formula to figure that out. I'm kind of a math geek and I was trying to figure it out myself but I couldn't quite get it. Thanks again.
Most math guys on BT are named Joe.
Dude...You need a bigger saw!
Here's an online calculator in case your wall angle or spring angle are non-standard:
