I am just starting to build my own house and am interested in laser levels. I would like to use it for drainage, brick laying, and framing. My question, which would be the best model for these functions, do they really work outside well, how useful really are they for framing, and any other points of wisdom you could offer. Thanks

I use a laser level for a lot of my work. I have one manufactured by Laser tools Co.501-888-8831. I think it would prove useful for landscape work as well as brick, once set up! Framing?? I think you should consider doing it the old fashion way. Oh I forgot to mention, if you want something worth it's weight get your pocket book out!!!!!

*I initiated a post a while back on this subject and didn't get very far with it. Testing these would make an excellent future article for FHB. If anyone knows a lot about these and has good writting skills they could make some money off it.I primarily would like one to use outside to measure the slope of lots prior to purchase to see if I would need basement subwalls, etc. However, it would be nice to use it for tile work and other indoor stuff.Generally, I have found that a tool that "does it all" usually ends up not anything very good, so I'm holding off on this purchase until more objective information is available.
