The house I just bought has lath and plaster walls and ceilings. It was built in 1930 and the plaster is falling off everywhere. The lath seems secure however. Do I take all the plaster off and replace it with sheet rock? If so what size do I use? Can I use less than 1/2 inch sheet rock? Any suggestions on how to get off the plaster? Do I really need to remove the lath? Thank you very much.
