To those roofers out there, I’m bidding to lay shingles only (no tear off) including felt, drip etc. Is $60.00 per square a reasonable price? I called one of the local roofing contractors and all he would tell me was that they charge $150/sq tear off and replace. Rafe

A lot of things go into figuring a price besides how many square. The first thing I would want to know is why you are installing felt on a layover?
good Luck all,Stephen
*Ray, I can see by your post you're no roofer. Respect the natural laws of distribution of labor and everyone will be happier for it.
*Ray, tear the existing shingles off, check and replace all sheathing that is failing, and I wouldn't touch that job for less than $120 square, and thats assuming 8/12 pitch or less straight hip ( no valleys )--- thats DC area. P.S. do it right or don't do it at all
