Leaking Exterior Siding b/w 2 buildings
Hello All,
I have a house in San Francisco where the homes are built with zero setbacks between my home and that of my neighbors. A couple of years ago, I had to replace the sheathing, exterior drywall and redwood siding on sections of the house that had rotted. At that time, these areas where exposed to sun light and easy to get to. Now, I’ve come to see new areas of rot, but they there are in sections of exterior siding that are inaccesable from the outside because my neighbors home runs right up against that part of the wall. During heavy rains, water will work its way in thru to the interior.
It would seem that this will need to be tackled from the interior of my building on out, where whole walls get replaced. I’d like to hear about anyone’s experience, techniques, and any publications that I can refer to, especially when it comes to ensuring a water-tight fix. Any alternatives would of course be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tark
