We have a small pond that was that came with the property, consisting of rocks and mortar. Have found no evidence of a liner underneath.
When filled it leaks down to a level of about 6″. I would guess at a rate of about 1 or 2 gph. I have grouted the more suspect areas but that didn’t stop it.
So, I’m looking for a way to find the leak. Idealy something I could pour in the water that would migrate to the leak and seal it or make it apparent where it is. ( I can dream can’t I? )
I would like to keep the natural look of the rock but could seal the entire bottom 9″ or so. Any suggestions for a product or process to do that? ( photo included )

Out west when we want to seal a pond or a small dam we use a product called gunnite. Out there I bought at a big plumbing supply yard. It's a powder that comes in a bag like cement and turns into a clay when mixed with water. You'll have to talk to the salesman to determine how much you need. Good Luck!!
when the water level is near where it stops leaking, some folks use milk in tiny quanties to look for where the leak is.

You might look for "Bentonite" in a farm supply store, it's a powdered clay used for just that kind of problem. Just broadcast it over the surface and let mother nature do the rest.
coal cinders...
shovel them in the area of the suspected leak... watch the particles in the water and where they go...
lots of water seepage gets grouted or more of coarser cinder....
