I've never found any way to buy pieces of Corian large enough to make a countertop. DuPont is very careful of their primary customers -- countertop shops -- and controls who they allow the material to go to.
Hey Marv,
Put in a corian shower stall for my brother and didn't know a thing about it before tackling the project. Did what you did and checked BT.
The link listed above looks like great source for info. Also BT archives have a lot on the subject.
The stuff is easy to work with. Just a few techniques to use and the finished product looks great. Hey! Maybe that's why it's so popular.

Showers are one of the products Corian doesn't restrict access to, anyone can buy it. Anyone can also buy it for bona fide commercial jobs, because the warranty standard is different than residential....basically, the fabricators carries it all on commercial. Installing a shower kit is a lot different than fabbing countertops, with seam, sink, and dishwasher issues etc.
To certify as a fabricator with Corian, you have to be recommended to them by the regional dstributor, and then you have to attend their course (Pennsylvania, I think). There is a school in Las Vegas that will train, and you graduated certified to use all other products, except Corian (and I'm not going to get in to Corian politics). Personally, having certified (not on Corian), I think anyone that is serious should take a course....it's your money on the line when problems crop up because you did something you shouldn't have.cabinetmaker/college woodworking instructor.
