Through the generosity of my grandfather, we’ll soon have enough money to re-do our kitchen. I can best express our joy at this with pictures of our kitchen as it is now:

I’m almost wondering if I could sell squares of that flooring – I know I’m going to cut one out and frame it, so we can show it to future generations. You drop anything on that floor, and it’s gone until you step on it. Anybody want those cabinets?
I’m also interested in ideas – this kitchen is about 8.5′ x 17.5′ and currently includes space for dining. We also have a more formal dining room, so we’re planning to move our washer and dryer into the kitchen as well (currently they are in a little room all their own, are very hard to get into, and partially block access to our electrical panel). I’ve thought a bit about how to lay it all out, but I’d like to hear more ideas.
Enjoy the pics, we’ll post more when we actually get into the process. The husband of one of my co-workers will probably do the work; he’s a pro and all and did some nice work for my parents last year.

Staple-up ceiling tiles, plastic edges on the counters, psychadelic floor ... what more could you ask?
Whenever you are asked if you can do a job, tell'em "Certainly, I can!" Then get busy and find out how to do it. T. Roosevelt
If I drop a marble anywhere in there, it rolls until it's right in front of the sink. Whaddya guess there's some water damage under there???
Actually, I've been under there (it's a nassssty crawlspace, you'd have to be Gollum to like it under there) - the joists are 2x6, some have been cut through and scabbed back together with bits of 2x4. It'll all have to be replaced.
