They're your "get ready...it's almost level" lines.
*Those extra lines were developed specifically for folks like Ryan. They indicate the general level of competence as in " Close enough for government work" or " the rockers will fix it".Seriously, they are called quarter bubbles, and, depending on the level maufacturer, indicate a slope of either 1/8 or 1/4 inch to the foot. Real handy when laying out the fall of drainage or waste lines.
*Wow,I thought all this time I was just seeing double. Man, that's a load off my mind.Ed.
*I think you forgot "You can't see it from my house."
*OK, Sorry, and "You can't see it from my house, either".Good sport, Ryan.

A friend told me about how he managed to quit even thinking disparaging thoughts about other people's houses and the work he was doing on them. He was having one of those stupid days when everything was going wrong and taking longer and he was pretty well through saying "There! Good enough for this f'ing job!" when the owner walked into the kitchen behind him.

maybe it is a masons or a plumbers level.1/4 or 1/8th inch out of level. Use for setting slopes etc. Should be marked. A drain line guy used to have one that wasnt marked he just made sure he wasnt level because Sh*t always flows down hill.
