I want to install a stone tile look laminate floating floor in my kitchen. Ripped out the existing vinyl and found a very uneven floor – probably a crowned floor joist about 2 feet from the back door. The subfloor drops about 1/2 inch in that 2 feet.
My plan is to try to sand the “ridge” down at least 1/4 inch since it appears the subfloor is about 1 inch thick and to use filler to bring the remaining low spot up to level. Is this a reasonable plan? Is there a better leveling material to use?
Thank you.
