Hi,
I am interested in natural wood treatment and came across this one called “Lifetime wood treatment”, on their site they say only one application is needed to protect the wood.Is this possible?Has anyone used this stuff?the site can be found at http://www.valhalco.com/ Thanks.

Sounds like the Holy Grail of stains.
I don't really understand the product. I have a little out in the garage. The point is that it supposedly takes wood to a "weathered" state faster, right?
Well, it turns fir green instead of grey.
Is this to treat existing wood or for new construction you're planning?
If new, you might look into the first completely non-toxic treated lumber, TimberSil. It's impregnated with silica glass which permanently protects the wood fibers and is a class A fire retardant as well. It's pricey, but the only thing like it on the market.

As for Lifetime Wood Treatment, I've read through their entire website and they purposefully say nothing about what's in it or how it really protects the wood fibers.
If the wood it "protects" turns silver-gray, that means it's weathing from UV and breaking down. Sounds to me like this is a natural coloring agent that doesn't protect the wood at all.

If the stuff turns wood green, then that sounds like the age-old copper treatment, such as Copper Naphthenate of which there are a number of products available at most hardware stores or home centers.Riversong -I have read about Timbersil and it sounds intriguing; however, it also sounds like it might be expensive. Do you have any idea what the premium is for this treatment over standard ACQ or other pressure treated products?
It's definitly not copper,it's a powder that you mix with water and it does't really smell like much.
I called the distributor of TimberSil and he said (not including shipping) a 2x6-16 was $35.

It's just for my shed which is Douglas Fir and Red Cedar,I know I could leave it natural but I've been pondering coating it with varathane exterior oil or something.I agree that Lifetime seems to be concealing what is in their product however , I keep hearing about it.Maybe it's just snake oil?.
