well i would unscrew the bulb and very carefully reach in there with a volt meter and see what the voltage is, something in the 115-125 range. if you have that then i would buy me a new 13v bulb and try again.
the older i get ,
the more people tick me off
Need lots more detail if you want a meaningful answer... reconnected as in wired a fixture into the house wiring? Maybe you connected it so you're getting 220 instead of 110. Or is it a halogen type fixture? Maybe it's supposed to be 12V and you din't use a transformer. Lots of possibilities, give us more info?

Aside from putting the wrong bulb in a low-voltage lamp, the possible causes are:
-- "Floating neutral"
-- High line voltage
-- Vibration
-- Poor socket contact
-- Overheating (if the bulb is tightly enclosed and perhaps too large for the fixture)
