I asked the same question a few months ago...for those that had used heavy and Trupan lite, the lite got favorable reviews.
*I've done some routing on heavy MDF and it handled very well. I really liked the stuff except for the extremely fine dust it gives off. Kind of like saw powder instead of saw dust.I never have worked with the lighter version of MDF (thank God they can't make it any heavier).Pete

*Hey now Joe, I AM NOT BIG! LOL.Is lighter MDF still MDF or should it be LDF?Pete
*LIGHTWEIGHT COSTS A BIT MORE, BUT WELL WORTH IT ON THE BACK, IT CUTS AND ROUTS VERY WELL, HOWEVER I DONT THINK IT HOLDS A SCREW AS WELL
*Thanks Pete, does the Ultra lite Mill ok? Its funny my distributor charges about 25% more for the ultra light, My thinking is rip the 4/8 sheets in half with my circular saw, that leaves me 2 x 8 sheet I can man handle myself on my table saw and rip into 3.5 inch strips.
*Even the "lite" is still heavy...especially in 12' and 16' sheets.Maybe "Medium-rare Density Fiberboard"?Dense-ly, Mongo
*Hard to get the stuff around here..
*Larry, I had the same problem, in that no one carried the "lite".I called Trupan, they ended up sending out a load to be split between several yards in the area. As an incentive Trupan and the yards passed it on at the same price as the heavy stuff. After that, one of the local yards picked up the line (and upped the price as well), I think two or three carry it now.
