I have been building dovetail log homes for about eight years and would like to scale down and specialize in building log saunas. I am having some trouble drumming up business. Any suggestions? I live in Vermont and want to stay. Sound like a plausible idea? Fire away with opinions.

We already got saunas in Vahmont. Called a sugah house.
Not enough Nordic blood around here I'm afraid. How much were you hoping to get for one of these?

thats like saying people wont buy pizza if they arent italian.
*Sorry, didn't mean to rain on your parade. However, pizza is a widely appealing tasty treat, while hanging out in an intensely hot room sweating and then thwacking each other with birch boughs is maybe less universal.Could you cut these and sell them in a kit form? Vermont is a tiny market for such a specialized item. If you could make a kit package that you could ship for a decent price, I could see it selling through ads in mags or on the internet. Check out SnorkelTubs for a comparable (in market appeal) product.Best of luck!
*Thinking on the sauna routine, that is a pretty select group that want a separate facility to sauna and with the forever stricter rules on placement of them, I fear that your market would be near extinction and would be more of a renovation/replacement of existing ones. Several times a year I get a chance to build lake homes/cabins and all have included it in the building or not wanted one. I think the profit is in all the accessories and variety of heaters to put in them.I could be wrong and really hope that I am, because personally I enjoy saunas when I get the chance. But you're talking about a labor of love, not a living.PS. How about doing a plethora of things in that style, like playhouses, sheds, kid play stuff, park shelters and the occasional sauna. And do all this while still building log homes and hook your clients on the whole package deal or subsequent additions of your product line. While this may not be original, location, location, location is the key.
